Simple by design

A direct connection—not another grocery-store brand.

Steer Share coordinates the relationships and logistics so local farms can focus on raising livestock and families can confidently participate in a whole-animal share.

01

Start with a local steer

We work with a local farm partner and coordinate professional processing through a local processor.

02

Bring families together

A small group commits to sharing the whole animal, including the everyday cuts—not only the steaks.

03

Guide the allocation

Families rank how they actually cook. Preferences shape the mix while remaining explicitly non-guaranteed.

The first real test

Steer #001

Our first pilot is designed for eight local households. The sample plan uses approximately 550 lb of packaged beef, or an average near 69 lb per family, with final yield determined by the actual animal and processing.

  • Professional local processing through Fisher Meats
  • Four preference profiles based on real cooking habits
  • Thoughtful use of the entire animal
  • Clear expectations: preferences guide, never guarantee

Steer #001 · Invitation-only pilot · 1/8 share preference

Tell us how your family really cooks.

Rank all four profiles, then answer a few practical questions. We’ll use the group’s answers to guide the whole-steer allocation—not to promise specific cuts.

Preferences are not guarantees. One steer has a finite number of steaks, roasts, briskets, ribs, and specialty cuts. Final weights and cuts depend on the actual animal and processor yield. Completing this form does not reserve a share or guarantee participation.

Move your best fit to the top. Think about an ordinary month—not which cuts sound most valuable.

    Transparent by design

    A preference system—not a steak reservation system.

The model translates each ranking into direction, checks that demand against the sample whole-steer inventory, and shows where judgment or swaps will be needed.

    01

    Rank real habits

First choice carries the most weight, while all four rankings matter. Practical answers help distinguish families with similar rankings.

    02

    Use the whole animal

The sample inventory totals 550 lb: 40 premium, 44 everyday steaks, 85 roasts, 66 smoking/specialty, 285 ground, and 30 other.

    03

    Balance by value

Premium-heavy guidance may weigh less; ground-heavy guidance may weigh more. The value index highlights shares needing a final human adjustment.

    Important planning limits

The sample includes roughly 20 ribeyes, 18 strips, 12 filets, 25 lb brisket, 15 lb short ribs, and 6 lb flank/skirt. Actual yield, package sizes, boning choices, trimming, and processor instructions will change the final list.
